It’s Sunday night, and I am getting ready for the work week. I made the decision to pause and reflect on a couple of past adventures and mentally prepare for the next adventure.
My last adventure was riding a bull over Memorial Day weekend. I have already written the story about that adventure. I’m going to wait a couple of weeks before I post it just to make sure everything that is, and was, that adventure, completely processes. Man, it was the most insane adventure I have ever taken. I think you will enjoy the story. I named the bull I rode, Dial 91. I’m still sore and in pain from hitting the ground.
My next adventure is coming up on June 10th in Austin, Texas. Team BMF Adventure Club (myself, my daughter Ellie and my Kilimanjaro climbing partner Chava) will be doing an almost 500-foot rappel off of the W Hotel in support of Make A Wish. I am proud to say that together we raised over $7,000 for Make A Wish. That’s a wish and a half! My daughter was a Make A Wish kid. We will begin our rappel at 3pm this Saturday. If you have some time on your hand, come on down and watch us. It’s going to be a blast. I just hope I can make it over the edge.
In closing, about a week ago the adventure associated with the picture on this post popped up on my Facebook Memories. I have all of the notes from this adventure, but I still have yet to complete the story. This is from the weekend I lived as a homeless person. It was eye opening, that’s for sure. Below is the post I made on Facebook right after I completed the adventure.
I encourage everyone to step outside of your comfort zone and grow this week. Growth and Comfort do not coexist. Scare yourself a little. You don’t need to do something like ride a bull. It could be something as easy as talking to a stranger or buying a funny t-shirt and wearing it. I am always surprised by the number of people who comment on the crazy t-shirts I wear.
Find Your Adventure and Live Your Life. You only get one life, so do it all.
Here is that post I talked about above – Live as a homeless person for 2 or 3 days – CHECK. I’m tired, a little sore and I was hungry prior to the lunch I just ate at Mission Waco. Other than that I am fine. I learned so much and my perspective has changed as relates to both poverty and homelessness. I made 3 friends who are homeless, Jason Linda and Bruce. Now I need to go pay back the folks that helped me. Yesterday a lady that owns a convenience store gave me a bag of chips for picking up the trash in her parking lot. Best dang Doritos I’ve ever had. I never really feared for my safety. I slept outside behind Mission Waco. I asked my new friend Jason about sleeping at “Tent City” and he said that would not be a good idea. This was an adventure I’ll never forget. Also that is a smile on my face. I hope you find your adventure and Live Your Life. The clothes I am wearing in this picture I got from a thrift shop.
